The International Wool Textile Organisation is the global authority for standards in the wool textile industry. Its members include wool growers, merchants, primary processors, spinners, weavers, clothing manufacturers, and retailers of wool and related fibers, as well as organizations related to wool products. With 38 members in 27 countries, IWTO’s membership encompasses all stages of the wool textile pipeline. Turkey ranks 4th in the world for wool production, boasting a flock of over 41.7 million sheep! This translates to a significant 4.1% share of the global wool market (https://iwto.org/wool-round-table-2024/).
On November 27-28, 2024, at the annual Round Table of the International Wool Textile Organisation (IWTO), held in Istanbul in partnership with the Turkish Textile Employers’ Association (TTEA), wool industry leaders and experts convened to explore wool’s potential to drive sustainable and innovative solutions for the textile industry. More than 80 attendees represented the wool industries of 26 countries.
